JMC Consulting LTD. was excited to present at the 2014 Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) Education Conference held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on June 6th, 2014.
The first conference of its kind in Edmonton, registrations for the conference exceeded 110% percent and gathered many of the brightest, most innovative minds in the science and engineering technology field to discuss a wide variety of topics relating to the industry in Alberta. Presentations occurred simultaneously in six lecture theatres, given attendees an opportunity to learn on a variety of different topics and organizations. As well, sponsors were encouraged to display their materials and information packages in a tradeshow-style, encouraging attendees to acquaint themselves with the organizations working within the technology fields.
On behalf of JMC Consulting LTD., John McLay, PE, RET- resident STO expert with over 40 years of heavy industry experience- presented on STO Transition Points, Worker Efficiency and Contractor Momentum, a topic that affects every large scale operation affected by shutdown, turnaround and outage processes. Both the morning and afternoon sessions were very well attended and the feedback was extremely positive. Many participants commented that they attended the conference specifically to hear Mr. McLay’s presentation, and he has been invited to speak again at the 2015 conference which will be held in Calgary, Alberta. Moreover, Mr. McLay was honoured to be invited to sit on the ASET Education Conference Committee for the upcoming year.
Mr. McLay’s feedback on the experience was very positive, stating: “Having participated in and chaired several inaugural conferences in different parts of the world, including Canada, USA, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, it is my opinion that the ASET team were terrific hosts. They will no doubt be looking forward to even greater successes in the future.”
