Posted on February 5th, 2014

Portage College is located in Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada and primarily provides a large cross section of training for the Canadian SAGD Oil recovery in situ plants.

Instructor, Thomas Lea, received the three technical manuals, “Practical Management for Plant Turnarounds,” donated by John McLay, P. Eng., R.E.T., PE (First), on behalf of JMC Consulting Ltd, for the Power Engineering program. John McLay does both STO/TAR training, “MasterClass: Shutdowns &Turnarounds,” and consulting in the region.

Mr. Tom Lea provided John McLay with a tour of the Power Engineering Lab and discussed how the students received hands on practical experience as the lab forms part of the College utility system.

Larry Lyons, the Power Engineering Program Coordinator was busy interviewing potential college power engineering students but did provide an opportunity for Mr. John McLay to discuss the career of a power engineer with the prospective candidates.

PMTP and JMC Consulting Ltd. are excited to be a part of Alberta’s vibrant technical learning community. For more information about this donation and all other community engagement projects, please contact our Sales and Marketing Department.
